Miniature Vertical SIP Relay Saves Board Space

9117 PRIn response to the demand from ATE industry engineers to conserve board space, Coto Technology has developed the 9117 Series miniature vertical SIP reed relay.  The 9117 is a 1A version of Coto’s popular 9011 series, reconfigured as a vertical SIP to reduce the amount of board space required for each relay.  The raised height allows for a reduction in width, thus producing a smaller footprint with pins on a 0.06” pitch grid.

The 0.270” x 0.150” x 0.385” package incorporates an external magnetic shield to reduce interaction of these very small relays when mounted in close proximity to each other.  High dielectric strength materials and molded thermoset body provide a robust design.

The 9117 is available in 5V coils with a standard external magnetic shield and optional diode.  OEM pricing for the base part ranges from $4.32 (10K qty) to $5.04 (1K qty) with delivery from Stock to 6 weeks ARO.   A datasheet can be downloaded here

High-Voltage SIP Relay is Small & Rugged

9104PRCoto Technology now offers the second generation of the 9104 Series Reed Relay – a  small, rugged High-Voltage SIP Reed Relay featuring high-voltage switching capability up to 1000VDC/AC peak.  In the normally-open contact state, dielectric strength is greater than 2000 VDC/AC peak.  Historically, SIP relays have been proven reliable and simple to use; now, the 9104’s high-voltage standoff and switching capability make these relays suitable for use in Automatic Test Equipment, Instrumentation and Process Control circuitry where voltage isolation is a key design requirement.

The 9104 HV SIP comes standard with a metal shell to reduce interaction of relays that may be mounted next to one another; additionally, a recently-modified shell further improves high voltage standoff.  High dielectric strength materials and the molded thermoset body provide a very robust design.  This rugged design, combined with Coto’s state-of-the-art winding equipment ensures highly reliable high-voltage SIP relays at an attractive price.

The 9104 is available in 5V and 12V coils with an optional internal Diode.  OEM pricing for the base part ranges from $3.86 (10K qty) to $4.56 (1K qty) with delivery from Stock to 6 weeks ARO.  Download data sheet here.

Coto Introduces Ground-Breaking BGA Relay

B41pr Coto Technology has introduced the first four independent channel, form-A, planar BGA Reed Relay.  The B41 series is the latest offering in Coto's growing line of RF capable, reed relay products.  Unlike Coto's B10, B40 and other high-performance RF reed  relay products, no slot or hole in the PC board is required to mount the device – a feature which simplifies the design of multi-layer boards.

Coto's new, patented technology also allows for shorter RF paths in a controlled 50 ohm environment to minimize signal attenuation.  Each channel has an RF insertion loss (–3dB roll-off point) of >8 GHz.  A  combination of coaxial and magnetic shielding reduces adjacent closed inter-channel RF crosstalk to –40dB at 1 GHz test signal and magnetic interaction between channels is reduced to <16%.

Applications include Mixed Signal & IC Testers where the B41's high package density and excellent RF performance are particularly important.  BGA packaging, with JEDEC standard dimensions, allows B41 relays to be easily installed on PC boards designed for surface mount processing using either manual or automated pick-and-place techniques.  The 1K price for B41 is $62.15 (~$15/channel) and  delivery is stock to 6 weeks.

New BGA Reed Relays Provide Superior RF Performance

B10___B40_PRCoto Technology, of Warwick, RI, has announced the release of two patented ball-grid-array (BGA) Reed Relays.  The B10 and B40 BGA relays utilize breakthrough patented technology to provide leadless relay designs with enhanced RF performance.   The signal path in the BGA  between input and output is designed as an RF transmission line, with an RF impedance close to 50 ohms throughout the relay.  With either B10 or B40 BGA relays, the designer is able to switch or pass signals with  wider bandwidth and faster rise time than alternate technologies.  This is particularly important for Mixed Signal IC testers.  BGA packaging  allows relays to be easily integrated on boards designed for surface mount processing.
The
B10 is a single channel Form A BGA that uses a minimum board space of only 0.1 sq in.
3.3V or 5V coils are standard and the RF insertion loss (–3dB roll-off point) is >10 GHz.  Single channel simplicity makes B10 an economical  choice for RF switching, with prices < $10.00 at 1K.  Delivery: stock to six weeks.
The
B40 is a BGA with four independent form A channels in one quad  package requiring only 0.215 square inches of board space.  Both 3.3V and 5V coils are available and the RF insertion loss (–3dB roll-off point) is >11 GHz.  Interchannel RF crosstalk is minimized by a  combination of coaxial and magnetic shielding.  Adjacent channel RF crosstalk is –25dB @ 11 GHz.  Pricing at 1K is < $15.00 per channel. Delivery: stock to six weeks.
