In response to the demand from ATE industry engineers to conserve board space, Coto Technology has developed the 9117 Series miniature vertical SIP reed relay. The 9117 is a 1A version of Coto’s popular 9011 series, reconfigured as a vertical SIP to reduce the amount of board space required for each relay. The raised height allows for a reduction in width, thus producing a smaller footprint with pins on a 0.06” pitch grid.
The 0.270” x 0.150” x 0.385” package incorporates an external magnetic shield to reduce interaction of these very small relays when mounted in close proximity to each other. High dielectric strength materials and molded thermoset body provide a robust design.
The 9117 is available in 5V coils with a standard external magnetic shield and optional diode. OEM pricing for the base part ranges from $4.32 (10K qty) to $5.04 (1K qty) with delivery from Stock to 6 weeks ARO. A datasheet can be downloaded here

High-Voltage SIP Relay is Small & Rugged
Coto Technology now offers the second generation of the 9104 Series Reed Relay – a small, rugged High-Voltage SIP Reed Relay featuring high-voltage switching capability up to 1000VDC/AC peak. In the normally-open contact state, dielectric strength is greater than 2000 VDC/AC peak. Historically, SIP relays have been proven reliable and simple to use; now, the 9104’s high-voltage standoff and switching capability make these relays suitable for use in Automatic Test Equipment, Instrumentation and Process Control circuitry where voltage isolation is a key design requirement.
The 9104 HV SIP comes standard with a metal shell to reduce interaction of relays that may be mounted next to one another; additionally, a recently-modified shell further improves high voltage standoff. High dielectric strength materials and the molded thermoset body provide a very robust design. This rugged design, combined with Coto’s state-of-the-art winding equipment ensures highly reliable high-voltage SIP relays at an attractive price.
The 9104 is available in 5V and 12V coils with an optional internal Diode. OEM pricing for the base part ranges from $3.86 (10K qty) to $4.56 (1K qty) with delivery from Stock to 6 weeks ARO. Download data sheet here.

Smallest, Mass-Produced Form “C” SMD Reed Relay Available
Coto Technology’s 9852 Form “C” SMD, ultra-miniature reed relay features longer life and optimized performance for ATE, Process Instrumentation and Telecommunications applications. Expected life is 200 million cycles (N/O contact), and 100 million (N/C) at 1V 10mA load. RF bandpass (-3dB) is 4GHz (N/O) or 3GHz (N/C). Isolation and return losses at 1 GHz are –10dB and –20dB respectively. An external magnetic shield reduces electromagnetic interaction between closely spaced relays. And, with a footprint of 0.078 sq. in., the 9852 is the smallest Form “C” SMD reed relay available in high-volume mass production. The 9852’s combination of small size, long life and good RF bandpass is unattainable by electromechanical or micromachined relays. Gull-wing, “J”-lead or axial surface-mount styles are available in tubes or tape-and-reel spools. Price for 5000 pieces of the 9852 is $10.40 each, and delivery is from stock to 6 weeks.

Coto Develops a Dual-Switch, Miniature SIP Reed Relay
Coto Technology has introduced the 9092 Miniature SIP reed relay - a taller version of its popular 9091 miniature SIP reed relay. The 9092 (which measures .600"x.150"x.350") provides designers a small SIP relay with 2 Form A switching capability in a package with the same footprint as the standard 9091. Raising the height of the relay allows for the additional switch, while a 6 pin layout on a 0.1" pitch grid provides electrical connections. A standard external magnetic shield reduces interaction of relays that may be mounted in close proximity; high dielectric strength materials and molded thermo-set body provide a robust design. The 9092 utilizes Coto's 10W switch technology, making these SIP relays ideal for use in ATE applications and other high reliability test, measurement and telecommunications applications where high board density and long life are key requirements. The 9092 Miniature SIP relay is available in 5V and 12V coils with an optional diode and sells in 1000 pc qty for as low as $4.50ea. (5V version; no diode). Delivery is from Stock to 6 weeks ARO.

Coto Expands Economy SIP Series
Coto Technology has expanded its 9081 Spartan SIP Reed Relay Series by adding two new Form C versions into this popular SIP package. The 9081C has a .2"x.4"x.1"x.1" footprint while the 9081C1 has a .2"x.2"x.2"x.2" footprint. By offering both pin configurations, Coto is able to match any competitor offering similar products.
The 9081C reed relays contain Coto's popular RI-90 Form C reed switch – one that is known for its high reliability. The SIP relays are sturdy and well suited for a wide variety of applications in Security, Instrumentation, and Process Control. Parts are available in the standard plastic molded version or with an optional external magnetic shield to reduce interaction of relays mounted closely.
9081C and 9081C1 relays sell in 1000 pc qty for $1.69 and are available in 5V, 12V or 24V coils. Delivery is from Stock to 6 weeks ARO.

Coto Introduces Ground-Breaking BGA Relay
Coto Technology has introduced the first four independent channel, form-A, planar BGA Reed Relay. The B41 series is the latest offering in Coto's growing line of RF capable, reed relay products. Unlike Coto's B10, B40 and other high-performance RF reed relay products, no slot or hole in the PC board is required to mount the device – a feature which simplifies the design of multi-layer boards.
Coto's new, patented technology also allows for shorter RF paths in a controlled 50 ohm environment to minimize signal attenuation. Each channel has an RF insertion loss (–3dB roll-off point) of >8 GHz. A combination of coaxial and magnetic shielding reduces adjacent closed inter-channel RF crosstalk to –40dB at 1 GHz test signal and magnetic interaction between channels is reduced to <16%.
Applications include Mixed Signal & IC Testers where the B41's high package density and excellent RF performance are particularly important. BGA packaging, with JEDEC standard dimensions, allows B41 relays to be easily installed on PC boards designed for surface mount processing using either manual or automated pick-and-place techniques. The 1K price for B41 is $62.15 (~$15/channel) and delivery is stock to 6 weeks.

Changeover Dry Reed Switches Now Available from Coto
Coto Technology has introduced the RI-90 Series changeover dry reed switch. With an initial contact resistance of 140 milliohms (max), the switch is ideal for high-reliability applications in Automatic Test Equipment, Security, Industrial and Consumer Applications. Additionally, the RI-90's Form C contact configuration offers more options for reed switch sensors applications. Coto's RI-90 Series, with a 15mm max glass length, is a single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) type, having three contacts: a common contact, a normally-open contact and a normally-closed contact. When brought in the proximity of a magnetic field, the common contact will first open with the normally-closed contact (NC), and then make contact with the normally-open (NO) contact as long as the magnetic field is applied. The RI-90 Series Ruthenium contact layers provide long-life switching at a wide variety of loads. The maximum switching current is 400 mA and 125VAC or 175VDC switching voltage. The RI-90 Form C is priced at $1.34 each for 10,000 pieces. Delivery is from stock to 6 weeks.
